Oblivion was an incredibly good experience for me even then. Just after Morrowind, Bethesda has once again put on a decent RPG experience. And it is precisely this feeling that brings the remaster back. With updated graphics, improved textures and the Unreal Engine 5, Cyrodiil has been completely revived. New character models, revamped sound, new visual and playful effects, and a world that has been built from scratch but still feels just like the original. Some gameplay mechanics such as the leveling system, user interface and numerous quality-of-life improvements have also been adapted to the present day. This makes it easier for new players in particular and makes the gaming experience more pleasant overall. At the core, however, the game remains the same. Quests, factions and the story have hardly been changed and largely correspond to the original. I would have liked to see a little more here. New quests, additional secrets or other surprises would have given long-time Oblivion veterans an additional incentive to explore Cyrodiil again. Nevertheless, the world has become beautiful in the Remaster and can still be experienced excellently today. A successful new edition of a great RPG, which can inspire both long-established fans and newcomers. “I have fought mud crabs that are more terrifying than you.”
