Mechabellum is just so much fun. There is something wonderfully satisfying about sending your small mech units across the battlefield and watching your own army meet the enemy’s. A bit of Auto Chess, a bit of Hearthstone, a bit of Teamfight Tactics – and yet the game has its own soul. The units are designed with a lot of attention to detail and all have their own charm. From small, inconspicuous machines to huge war machines, everything is included. It is especially nice how many different strategies result from the numerous units, upgrades and modifications. You constantly experiment with new setups, try to counter the opponent and are happy every time a supposedly ingenious plan actually works. And if not, the plan was of course still good, the opponent was only lucky. It is precisely this tactical diversity that makes Mechabellum so motivating. Every round offers new possibilities, and even after many battles you still discover combinations that you did not have on your screen before. The game manages to be easily accessible and at the same time provide enough strategic depth to keep you facing new challenges. A really great strategy game with a lot of personality, lovingly designed units and this dangerous “one round goes”. Little mechs, great fun.
