[copied by Steam] I wonder who has more augmentations, Adam Jensen or my PC to make the game work in 2024. Human Revolution from 2013 is running better and even has native 4k support, which is missing here. Even Deus Ex 2 crashed less frequently and starts better than DXMD. At least the crashes became fewer over the course of the game. And why Deus Ex Mankind Divided is so CPU-heavy can not be explained even in 2016. Apart from that, DXMD is an even better immersive sim than DXHR was. Although it does not quite reach the first two parts and partly the movement is also hackier than in DXHR but the overall experience on the gameplay side is really the most modern and polished of the Deus Ex series. Unfortunately, the story is very wischi waschi and less straightforward than in the direct predecessor and does not really open up in the whole if you have not played the first two oldschool games. Characters are continuously presented on the left and right but then hardly illuminated in more detail, unless you read partly too well hidden e-books about them or the very short texts in the loading screens. Why you are in Prague at all and why exactly Prague was selected to be the technology capital of Europe, is also only very marginally told, something runs through the whole game. Why? Overall, I still lack, as in Human Revolution, a somewhat deeper criticism of corporate wars, which are exercised on the backs of augmented people. Adam Jensen is still just a kind of Lakei Sarifs, which somehow seems even more one-dimensional than in its predecessor. The moral question of how augmentations affect people and Adam Jensen’s perception of them are rarely and somehow not conspicuously expressed in secondary sentences. The decision at the end of Human Revolution does not matter at all and it is simply assumed that you have chosen the worst ending of all, which makes most of the story of DXHR obsolete. Even the ending Deus Ex Mankind Divideds leaves much to be desired. The cliffhanger is almost clichéd and will probably not be dissolved anymore, since at the beginning of 2024 the development work for the third Adam Jensen Deus Ex was unfortunately discontinued. Probably you couldn’t build in Micor Transactions or a senseless Battelpass-infested multiplayer. Nevertheless, the story is finally quite good and yet exciting. Although there is an immensely large number of characters, they are all interestingly written and I had fun listening to the many dialogues, as they are better set to music in the original than in the predecessor and the NPCs sometimes show facial expressions and gestures like real people and do not stand rigidly like robots, as in the direct predecessor. I did not play the DLC missions. However, System Breach seems to be just a tie-in to forgotten multiplayer and A Criminal Past a small prequel to the story, which does not seem to be so deep. I have played both Adam Jensen games for the first time back-2-back and can advise anyone who likes immersive sims and good dystopian sci-fi stories. As an oeuvre, the Adam Jensen Deus Ex trilogy would probably have become one of the best game series ever, so somehow remains the bland aftertaste of the very open ending and the miserable technique in Mankind Divided. I do not know which of the two modern Deus Ex I would prefer, but I think it will be Human Revolution overall, because the technical condition is much better and I personally like the story better.
