So far we had really fun with Jump Space in a group of 3. Of course, EA typically has a few small and larger quirks and relatively little content, but the roadmap looks promising and the devs are actively working with the community. The game principle is explained on paper simply but still has a certain depth. As a spaceship crew, we currently have to fly, fight and loot one of two ships through 20 minutes to 1 1/2 hour long stages. Space Ship works like a roguelike dungeon crawler. A level is divided into five to seven (as far as we are currently) stages and offers various challenges and loots. With this, we upgrade our ship’s weapons and improve our engines, for example. In theory, quite simple. Nevertheless, the practice is much more difficult. Over time, enemy ships and robo-opponents will always strengthen and we as a crew have our hands full to put out fires, keep our ship on our toes and looooot. A really fun but also stressful undertaking. Unfortunately, not everything is gold that shines. Because occasionally there are connection breaks in individual players and the optimization is still suboptimal (partly less than 60fps). Also in the so far almost 8h playing time and after about 15 levels a total of some stages and missions have already double and triple repeated. We have too often had to clear a hangar of enemies and carry ship parts on our ship at a miserably slow pace. But the devs have already reported on all problems and vow improvement and some new content, already at the end of 2025. We are curious! All in all, we just had fun with Jump Space so far. A casual and microtransaction-free PVE Coop game is simply good for the soul. Especially since the game principle has not sucked out in the current time and even the repetitive stages have been fun. Let’s see how much and what content awaits us and what the devs are still cooking. (plus point for queer-friendly devs;)
