The Dawn of Bloodwalker. ... The Blood of the Dawnwalker... The Walker of Blood. “The Blood of Dawnwalker” has been an incredible action game. I had a lot of fun with the game most of the time and would normally rate it better, but I just can’t do that because of my experience with the platinum trophy of the game. But first, let's go through it. Some former “Witcher developers” have worked on this game and you notice this in many places (which is really nothing bad). The graphics are very good for a first work (developed by Rebel Wolves) and the performance was quite okay for the size of the game. In advance, the freedom of choice along with temporal ingame consequences was touted. Apart from the pretty good intro, however, you see relatively little of it in the finished game. You have more than enough time to complete all quests and an incredible amount of side stuff within the 30 in-game days and I never felt rushed through the game. However, I also did not feel that I could influence any important decisions, which in my opinion was communicated differently in advance. The music has already picked me up in places, but unfortunately no soundtrack has really stayed in my memory, which is why I can not give the game a positive point for it. The combat system is a bit KCD-like, which I liked very much, but after 20-30 hours really wore out, which is probably mainly due to the lack of enemy variance and always the same fighting. If I had only played the game itself instead of making the 100% full, this review would look completely different. Unfortunately, during the platinum hunt there was this one trophy which probably completely ruined the experience in retrospect: Play the game again at the highest difficulty. Sounds okay at first, but if you notice in the first run that the combat system wears out then unfortunately it will not get better in a second round. At this difficulty level, you can no longer see in which direction the opponents attack and die after a few hits, while opponents can withstand much more due to level difference and "heavy difficulty scaling". This made the fights unnecessarily tough and despite the now stale combat system, I felt like I had played the game for the first time. After just over 50 hours I was missing only this trophy and it took me 15 hours to complete it alone, including annoying EXP-Grind and always the same and the same fights, thanks to a lack of opponent variance. At some point in the middle of this run I had the feeling that it was more fun again, which was probably more of a persuasion than the truth, so that I pull this platinum through. Experience without platinum: 4-4,5/5 Experience with Platinum 2/5 My conclusion is therefore: I can recommend this game to everyone and look forward to the eventual second part of Coen's adventure, but would advise everyone against the platinum because the combat system for the duration of the platinum simply cannot maintain the fun of the game from my point of view. Nevertheless, I found the game as such really strong and if you want to explore a cool world in a strong setting then I can highly recommend this game. And let's be honest: There are far too few video games with vampire setting! You must know.
