The game just balloons in. It looks damn good and as a jobless game dev who specializes in character creation, I obviously love how much love has gone into the main character. Holy. You just notice that someone has put a lot of work and attention into it. The gameplay is also surprisingly fun. It’s pretty simple at its core, but it still feels fresh and entertaining. The opponents not only look cool, but also bring different attack patterns. It is precisely this diversity that makes up a big part of the gameplay dynamics for me and ensures that the fights do not get boring. The music is also beautiful, but the story is rather okayish. I personally do not like Adam lol, but the other NPCs are actually clear to me. What bothers me is the comparison with NieR. Anyone who seriously puts Stellar Blade on the same level as Nier as something should perhaps take a closer look. Apart from certain musical influences, I hardly see anything that conveys a comparable feeling. And that's totally okay! NieR was obviously a big inspiration, but I think Stellar Blade managed to make it something independent, rather than just imitating the same experience. Bottom line: A damn fun game with a strong presentation, cool opponents and character design, which of course picks me up as a character artist.
