I play Sea of Thieves since the Alpha and have sunk in the Beta alone again over 200 hours, parallel to the release version. And yet I keep coming back after all these years. What makes the game for me is clearly the atmosphere. The sea, the sunsets, the soundtrack and just that feeling of being on your own ship. I like to ride very relaxed trade routes, while on the second screen there is some stream. You don’t need the big adventure or stress with other crews every time to have fun. And contrary to the general opinion: You can play Sea of Thieves very well solo. Sure, you have to be more careful and some things are much more strenuous alone – but that has its appeal. With friends, of course, it is another number. Especially the completely unplanned moments in which everything suddenly goes wrong make it one of the best co-op games ever for me. Sure, there are also Griefer who just want to annoy people, and solo is sometimes really frustrating. If there is no other way, a change of lobby is enough. The fact that you can be attacked at any time is part of the game for me. This is almost in the name of the game. Only pirate play is something other than simply being toxic. What I think is really rare: They have been working on updates since release. New content, mechanics, activities, improvements – there is always something. If you compare today's game with the release version, that's already crass what has become of it. This is anything but self-evident. It is certainly nothing for everyone. You have to be able to get involved in the sometimes rather decelerated gameplay and come to terms with the fact that not every session goes according to plan. But it is precisely this mixture of chilling, exploration, chaos and completely random encounters that makes it for me. One of the best co-op games ever – and also solo a game in which I can easily spend hours without having to achieve anything specific. Eternal love for this game.
