I first played this game back in primary school, and about three years ago I rediscovered it for myself. Coming back after so many years, I expected a museum piece. What I found instead was an MMORPG that is more alive than ever. "Old School" in name only. Despite the word "Old School" being right there in the title, the game receives regular, massive content updates to this day. This is not a game resting on nostalgia, it is a living, breathing world that keeps growing while stubbornly protecting the classic feel that made it special in the first place. That balance is incredibly rare in this genre. Four raids and counting. The group content is where OSRS truly shines. There are currently four raids: Chambers of Xeric, Theatre of Blood, Tombs of Amascut, and the brand new Fractured Archive. Each one plays completely differently, with its own mix of combat, puzzles, and skilling encounters, and several offer entry and hard modes so groups of any skill level can find their challenge. Running these with friends is some of the best co-op PvE you can find anywhere in the genre, and the rewards are genuinely endgame-defining. A masterclass in running an MMORPG. In my opinion, OSRS is one of the best showcase games of how an MMORPG should be managed. The developers listen to the community, poll content before it ships, and deliver years of consistent updates without ever compromising the core identity of the game. Compare that to other MMOs that chase trends, gut their progression, or shut down entirely, and it becomes clear how special this game is. Verdict: Whether you are a returning player from a decade ago or a complete newcomer, this game has something for you. The grind is real, but it is honest, meaningful, and endlessly rewarding.
