Sonic Epoch features SatAM Sonic in a time travel adventure as he is blasted 10 years into the future; a dark future where Dr. Robotnik has essentially won, and the very few remaining Knothole Freedom Fighters are barely clinging to life. Sonic arrives to reinvigorate the world and perhaps still be able to fight back the evil Doctor and hopefully somehow get back to his own time. The GBA version was a revival of the cancelled PC version. While the GBA version is "finished", it was a rush job, more for the sake of filling the gap of the previous version's incomplete status, and did not completely honor all aspects of the original story.

Sonic Frenzy Adventure is a retro-style fangame developed since 2004, featuring 11 zones and 5 playable characters, including two original ones. The game introduces unique mechanics such as a revised ring system with four levels, various shields with passive effects, and special powers exclusive to Sonic. Players explore each zone, ending in a boss fight, with a storyline focused on defeating EggRobo's mechanical empire. Achievements track high scores and hidden collectibles, and the game offers character-specific routes and challenges.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Project Mettrix is a fan game led by Stealth, created using his own E02 Headcannon Game Engine. This platform makes this game available to DOS, Windows, Linux, MacOSX, PSP (CFW), and Wii (Homebrew Channel) users, and has allowed a significant amount of mechanical evolution from the game's earlier incarnations.
